Hi

I got an intelligent split relay kit to fit on Friday. Doing some prep work today with the instructions.

Though my dilemma is where/how to run the main cable. I haven’t got anymore holes at the front panel of chair runners, so drilling involved somewhere. My options are

A) I am tempted to drill holes in both battery compartment walls beneath the rubber carpet line and run the cables direct via the walk through (the shortest point) under the rubber carpet.


B) I have cables going out the front seat panel along between gearstick and handbrake then back in through the passenger seat front panel to the Leisure battery?

My only reservation with plan A. Is that the cables more liable to be stood on over time, but it is the more direct route.

What have other people done?

If you wish to go with plan A you could put a cable protector over the cables, there are many different types;

The one above is available in 10cm lengths. Or you could use a galvanised type, piece of conduit whatever. Be sure to use grommets bulkhead fittings or cable glands where the wires pass through the steelwork.

Across the walkway is generally easiest route. Mine is done like that. Some vans have holes you can use that only need rubber grommets fitted to stop any chafing. If you don't have the big plastic blower diverter box found in Caravelles etc, I guess you could cut a board with a recess underneath to take the cable or a protector as suggested.

Yeah gonna go straight across, seems the easiest solution. Just have to be careful there ain't any cables already on the other side when drilling. Then get a piece of a cable protector to stop the cables gettting trodden down. Yes got some gommets.

Once the cable is across I find it plain sailing. On mine I left more slack at the end than I though I might need - just in case I needed to change anything later. Nothing worse than finding you didn't leave enough.

Totally agree. I came up short on the Auxiliary fusebox supply wiring (job almost complete, pics soon).

However, the split Intelligent relay main feed wiring same gauge. The left overs (from going via walkway), are being taken to finish off the fusebox job and give more slack to that feed.
