my t25 auto box has made it mind up that it dont like its atf anymore
the atf oil is going up the filler tube and leaving a big puddle of atf on the top of the block
which is fine untill you put the brakes on then the oil goes forward over the edge of the block onto the very hot exhaust
result >>>>>> BIG cloud of white smelly smoke and i multi coloured rainbow puddle on the floor
any idea what is going on inside my gearbox and how to fix it

The breather must be blocked . If you have a bentley manual it will show you where it is, but if not, at the top of the transmission housing , which is the front [in relation to the vehicle] , there is a 1/2 " size black plastic knob which is the breather cap. It should be loose while sitting on the vent tube. If it isn't , carefully pry it off and clean the tube which is sits on, and then pop it back on. Of course the ATF level may be too high so check that also .

Top up to required level and try again. It is possible the level became too low and air entered the fluid system causing foaming and resulting in the overflow.
Too high or too low fluid levels can cause this problem.

you need to check the atf filter.remove the pan.undo the filler pipe at the bottom first.this will allow most of the fluid out.if there is any left in.(make sure you have something for it to drain into.once the pan is removed you will see the filter.when this happened to my box.the filter had disintegrated and blocked the oilways.i had to fit another box in the end.i just hope you dont have to.as they are hard to get hold of nowdays..

the answer is a blocked vent pipe on the top the the box `now ok
accept that i when i had to remove the pan on the bottom of the box to change the filter undid one bolt which was very very tight next bolt snaped off the last two are rounded off so socket will not fit ...... great
so it now leaks as only 3 bolts are holding it on untill i can get under and drill out the snaped bolt and repalce the gasket and filter
but not in the snow i will just keep sticking atf in every day for now

now fixed no leaks new bolts old one drilled out and retapped all is well with the world until the next part which goes wrong all part of the joy of t25 vans
