Hi, Wilst tinkering this weekend I have found that my nearside heat exchanger has the pipe missing which connects it to the fan housing, and the heater control pod seeems to have dissapered
(BTW 2.0l Aircooled)
Both look pretty pricey on JustKampers.
Anywhere else likley to stock em cheaper?

Looks like this
And connects fan here
to heat exchanger here
Phoned GSF, Custom and commercial, and VW heritage...no joy.
Id imagine this is a crucial bit of tin, as it forces air thru the exchanger...anyone got one for sale?
Can i bodge it with anything ?

Cheers Ghost.
So the lack of air thru the exchanger wont affect the cooling of the engine ?

Nope. Purely for heating the cab. Heat exchangers can be shut off or pernemantly removed and replaced with J pipes no problem.

You can also buy lengths of corrogated ally hose from many places (particularly beetle custom shops) that is meant for bug fan housings but can be used to duct heat from those exchangers to the interior if the pipework is missing. If exchangers are shot you'll just get engine exhaust fumes but they may be useable to heat the interior still with a little bodging as I've suggested.
