Hi,

(1.6 TD panel van)

Went over a left hand crest today, the kind where you think "I'll just go back and pick up my stomach", and the oil warning light and buzzer flashed and buzzed briefly....

Is this because the oil jumped in the air too (with my stomach)???

I will check the level tomorrow, but it doesn't normally go down.

Cheers,

Steve

On my recon 1.6TD the oil light and buzzer went off and didnt stop. There was a good reason. The new vacuum pump had worked loose and oil was spilling. So it does work when it needs to.

guess what? The oil was low! So I put some more oil in and it is all fine and dandy.

Cheers,

In my case unexplained buzzing was down to fact that a local (mainly beetles) garage had fitted wronng sensor (for revs over 2,000 rpm) at some point - with the previous owner.

I wasted hours looking for an earthing worn cable, changing to a different oil.

ETKA just lists the three 'colours' of oil sensor - white, grey, blue but doesn't say WHICH TWO are right for a 1987 T25 w/boxer.
How could I let the ETKA folk know that this can be expensive mis-information? Do they live in Hanover ? Anyone got decent German?

Anyway - be warned if your local garage are less than 100% on matters T25 !
