Speakers in Doors?

Any advice regards to fitting speakers into the front door cards sought! What speaker have you got in your vans? my head unit is old and basic and i dont intend to upgrade it yet but merely upgrade the tiny speakers that were installed 18 years ago and sound appalling.
will 8"x9"s fit into the doorcavity? or smaller such as 6" speakers only?
Please tell me what you have done in you vans, many thanks.

Stick with 6" at the bottom of door, angled up slightly
The ones fitted at the top of the door are half covered by the dash, so a little pointless.

Can I jump on board? What depth of speakers are we limited to when fitting to bottom of door card?
I'm thinking of window movement etc.
Cheers

Does not really matter as they are below the quarter glass, so window opening will not effect it
as in pic, mount where you see the big black circle

Eatcustard thanks for the photo and advice, ill research a pair of decent 6" speakers. My existing speakers are in the same place as your upper ones and also half obscured by dash, small square items that are atrocious for sound quality with my very old panasonic radio cassette! I wonder if the original owner had them fitted as an optional extra? Thanks again.

mine are at the bottom of the door
But please remember the speakers are susceptible to water dripping down from the widow seal
If it's not good your cardboard cones will turn to mush
protect them

JCL-just to let you know-I fitted the 6" £19.99 halfords speakers today. I had to cut about 1/4" off the top and bottom of the rectangular hole where the speaker sits in. but the sound is good enough for me. Not looking for a mobile disco . I just want to hear it clearly. Now I can -great

Hope this isn't too old to jump in on. I've got my eyes on some 6" x 9"Kenwood speakers but wonder if they're too big to fit in the door. They're 77mm (3 1/16 " for the oldies) deep. I know the door isn't the best place for them but I don't want to wire up anywhere else.
Grateful for thoughts.

ive got my 6" speakers mounted on 2" spacers so the back of the cone sits flush with the door card hole
