has anyone sprayed/painted theyre middle (silver coloured)sliding window frames?if so how did you do and does it last with the window being used(actually being opened)
ive got the windows apart, well the sliding window out, now i have a piece
of glass and the fixed window still in the frame (to make it easier for painting or spraying)
i want them to be black not silver.is it a case of using an etch primer?
any help appreciated,
thanks guys/girls

Can't answer your question about paainting them, but how did you get them apart? is it still in situ in the van?

hi cate,
no ive took the window out as the vans being sprayed,
to be honest with you it looked as if it wouldnt come out but with a bit of perserverence (and brut force and ignorance!!) it came out ok.
i think it would be alot easier if the window was out of the van but i cant see why it wouldnt come out in situ'
i had to (gently) pry the frame up a little to get it out, once youve took the push down locking mechanism off the window it came out quite easy.
bet the bu**er wont go back in as easy though.
if you need any more info feel free to contact me
theres probably peeps on here that have done it in situ' (and are a bit more technical) but i will help out where i can

oh i forgot,
the black felt seal that the window slides on has to come out too, mainly because it gives that extra bit of lift when prying the sliding window up,
there wasnt any moments where i thought, "i'm going to break this in a min'"

Thanks for the info Charlie, I need to take mine out to give the felty bits a good clean up so they can pretend to be waterproof again, just haven't summoned up the courage to do it yet! Maybe when it goes in for respray I can attack them then.
