Sod resprays when after about 6 months rust begins to bubble back through from a place you previously didn't know about, or some local tw*t keys it.

Roller it for cheapmans then you can repaint areas yourself.

I do like the idea of rollering my van although doing it on a street in London may be a bit tricky. How easy is it to match up to original VW colours?

Can be mixed to order (its in the WIKI), through http://www.avenue-group.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; although others may do to0. http://www.paintshop.ie" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; offer an 80/90 discount of you give my name but you may find a 'near enough' in the stock range. Heck do it in the street in Summer - dries very quickly indeed and little smell. Most of us are painting outdoors. If you're nervous, just ask around for a patch of rough ground you can park on just to paint. You can drive away pretty soon after :D

Cruz: This is the advantage, paint as and when and flat when you feel you've time/inclination. Just having a layer of the paint on stops rot. Your method is similar to mine - paint, see what shows through, deal with it, more paint etc etc. Best way.

Had a nice run out to Solihull today - bliss. All insulated, painted, and a bike exhaust - joy. Best we keep rollering posts in the same thread for continuity otherwise we'll end up with them all over the shop and a lot of 80/90 (as well as bug and T2 owners) refer to it a fair bit these days.

Mine is now officially the Rustoleum grandad:

it does sound like a good option. guess it's just the windows out type prep work i'd be nervous about because it all has to be sealed up again at the end of each day.

Covkid, a your van is the undisputed rustoleum daddy i bet the standard of the paint job is pretty good. hows it look close up? almost or as good as a spray job? (sorry, bet you've been asked that trillions of times!)

I repainted my pop top roof with rustolium earlier in the year and it's help up really well. shame the roof under it is so knackered!
