Was just re opening the flaps for winter and realised one of my pods is almost rusted through and the other isnt event there! Going to get this sorted soonish but cant afford brand new replacement ones. What should i expect to pay for good quality 2nd hand ones?

Would the 50mm flexible hose not fit for now? They do an ally variety of paper hose that may do the job. Anywhere that supplies custom parts for bugs do it and it may tie you over until warmer months when you'll feel more motivated to tackle it properly.

Mine doesn't have heat risers or control pods. Just a bit of pre heater pipe. Like this:

Thanks Damien, yes thats the stuff you need. No technical knowledge needed here - just a case of creating a passage for hot air to the interior. You can fasten them on with wire or similar.

Looks like a great option. i'll have to get under and double check the affected areas and post some pictures.

I'll do some pictures tomorrow so you can see how to do it etc. But should be pretty straight forward.

Here are a couple of pictures to show what i'm going on about! these were taken from the wheel arch so sadly arent Ideal

firstly, yikes! a camera and a flash shows up a fair bit of rust!!

in this first photo you can see where i've temporarily fixed the section that comes off the heat exchanger with aluminum tape. this eeds to be replaced or i need to consider the fix as mentioned before.



now, this is the one that confuses me. on the other side the section fixed in the previous photo isnt there and there is a rubber red plug in its place. can anyone shed any light on whats happening here? is it simply missing or is it supposed to be like that?

The photo with the 'red bung' is a control pod ( flap valve )without what looks like a mushroom shaped cover that vents the hot ! air when not required in the cabin, the pod looks knacked to me, I got hold of some silicone rubber high temp hose off fleabay to replace the paper and plastic corrugated tubes and pipes, also if you can replace all jubilee clips with Stainless ones and to seal up the joints with some high temp silicon mastic

thanks mike. yeah, think both pods are pretty shot! so bad i probably won even be able to get them off!
