Yes I know the obvouis answer is try it. However I am looking to hire a local council standard garage and no one I know has a standard garage.

My one is lowered 55mm, though might be able to get a further drop by tyres etc.

No.
All the standard garages I've seen are stuffed with freezers, bikes, ladders, tools :D

Probably not, Both my dads garage and mine don't have a high enough door. You might squeeze in with rims with no tyres or the springs removed which isn't ideal

No it won't if van has a roof and maybe not even then. However, what you can do to get it in depends on the construction. If its a stock concrete garage with an up and over door, you'll have to change the door for a pair of openings doors and remove the lintel, replacing it with a wooden or steel tie (a higher A frame). Usually its high enough inside but the lintel is the stumbling block. In other cases you can jack the roof up, infilling with timber.

I'm saying all this because both Chickenkoop and I were presented with the same problem and thats how we did it.

i used to keep a tin top in my "standard" garage but getting in and out of doors was difficult so adopted the park close to one wall and use sliding door to get in/ out. got a high top now so its no problem it just wont go in lol

Our Devon pop-top wouldn't fit into my sisters garage (double garage but 'standard' height up and over door, although the actual garage itself is significantly higher). To be honest it wasn't even close to fitting in with the roof and skylight of the van.

Thats put paid to the "Christmas accomodation" plan of us sleeping in the van parked in the garage, which connects to the house.

And why it's impossible to find a garage/workshop round here where I can tinker with the van out of the weather.
