Is it flashing?
They usually flash - and then it means trouble
But before really panicking, it can also mean your coolant level is a bit low

yeah, check your coolant level. Probably just low. Failing that if level is right check the sensor. Sometimes they just need a bit of a clean. mine had gone all green so kept coming on. Once i'd cleaned this up, the light went off. Hope this helps.

if it still flashes wen youve cleaned the terminals up try this
a,turn ignition on till warning lights appear
b,turn it a bit more untill you can hear a relay click
c,hold it 4 about 10-15 seconds while red light flashes and self tests
d,turn ignition over and said light should go out and stay out
this works for my van,i tried in vain to get the light to stay out before trying this

might be worth checking that the bottle that sucks from the overflow/top up bottle is full, if you have an air lock it won't suck from the top up bottle. Well mine didn't. Thought my slight leak had cured itself as the top up bottle was steady level, then one day light starts to flash, do a check and find level in the other bottle has droppped

Well at least I know the light works
