hello people, having problems with the old beast again!! and that problem is starting!! it seems that if i leave her over night the battery is dead, but im puzzeled as this is inconsistent some days good some bad!!! i have a amp and a hefty sub in the back, thought it was that, but have taken the fuse out after leaving and the problem is still there! thats as far as my skills of fixing things go, so if they is anyone with a suggestion please feel free, many thanks

A lot of modern stereos seem to consume vast amounts of juice even when 'allegedly' switched off and ignition key out. Try forgoing memory supply on stereo and see if its still flat after that or disconnect all power wires to stereo overnigt. I had that prob for months until I discovered what it was! Now I run the stereo entirely off the second battery and when its off, its off.

you must clean up your battery terminals, and the earth to the chassis
and clean up your starter terminals, all of it.

If you have an alarm imobiliser fitted and it is faulty they can cause a large drain.

i cant really see it being the sound system, it crossed my mind, but why would it suddenly start to drain over long periods of time?? and have disconnected the fuse on the amp, and still its dead.

i have been using my (not yet set up) leisure battery to jump me starter, have been doing this every time the motor wont start. so maybe over use of jumping starting is continuing the problem, adding to the terminals, maybe will give it a good cleaning. where can i find the chassic earthing spot??? wud save some looking. would that mean that the battery is beginning to pack up?

you will murder your leisure battery jumping from it

revtherev nice one!! the cleaning seemed to do the job, i got the battery tested and it was in ok condition. i think i have a 45amp, should i be looking at 60amp for my next one???
