I am hoping some on can advice me on this .I have seen a bosch 16 volt 90 amp alternator part number ALTERNATOR 068 903 029 K for sale.It appears to have the same case type as the bosch alternator fitted to my 1.6td which is a bosch 12 volt 50 amp .To use this alternator with its 90 amp output for 12 volt is it a case of changing the brush& regulater for a 12volt type.

hi camper, i just googled the pn, it came up as 90amp 12volt [241euros] perhaps the 16volt rating is only for a second or so,the site said its for a passat/variant.
nice and sunny here.

I tried to fit a 90 amp alternator to my 89 1,6TD, it was not a straight swap.

I needed different mounting brackets & fasteners.

My standard alternator has three mounting points, one of which utilises a squared headed bolt which mates with a socket on the alternator.

The 90 amp one had a different set up-

YMMV

I've mentioned this many times on here but there are several 90amp alternators fitted to VW and Audi models that are indentical except for the pulley - which yu can swap
