Split charging in line diode?

Hi

Trying to tidy up the wiring mess left by previous owners.

Im fitting a second fuse box under one of the seat to run headlamp relay up grade through, and to get all the inline fuses into one place.

The split charge relay is going in this fuse box and Ive just found a diode and dont know what its for/doing. The diode is wired in across the split charge relay switching terminals. I have looked through the wiring diagrams and cant see this on any of them.

What would this diode be doing?

It's a clamping diode. Prevents unwanted spikes of power from the relay coil getting to bits it shouldnt. Essentially the diode shorts out the power created in the relays coil when power is disconnected.

Cheers Mark

I think I will leave it in that case.
