Evening all,
Im in a spot of bother with trying to remove one of my trailing arms.. got one off fine (well as fine as it goes after 20 years of being on!).. But my other one, well.. the bolt snapped on one of them and that bolt wont hammer+punch out, and on the other side the nut came off fine, but the bolt doesn't really turn so I assume its well.. stuck in the bush.

Now ive beated then bolts with my best hammer and they are winning! Can I use a heat gun or small blow torch to heat up the entire lot and "soften" the bushes into letting me get the bolts out?

- I plan on replacing the bushes and power-coating the arms.. thats why i was removing them.

Any advice would be great received

Cut through the mounting bolt with an electric or air powered reciprocating saw fitted with a hacksaw blade. I found this to be the is the simplest way to get the rear arms off with out any damage to the mountings or the arms/bushes,etc.

Then work on the arm on the bench to get the rest of the bolt out.......

New mounting bolt size is M12X1,5X105

best word of advice to anybody thinking of doing this without any 'have to' is dont do it!


soak the bushes with wd40 for a good few weeks prior to attempting and make sure you have all the bushes/new bolts ready.

and remember you will need to get the suspension arms aligned once finished , probably best to get a 4 wheel alignment check done.
