whats the best camping interior layout?

So I'm thinking of ripping mine out and starting again.

Anyone experienced a few layouts and could recommend what's worked best for them and why?
Full width bed vs. 3/4 width + wardrobe?
Extra seats? Buddy seat? Swivelling bases in the front? High level cupboards?

I saw a one with a full-width kitchen in the back half, with the bed in the front half, made by pulling 4 seats together like in a caravan! Sounds nasty but worked really well...

I'm thinking I'll most likely be doing this under a pop top, so am going to need a lot of flexible storage in the main bit.
I am hoping to keep my Devon sink/hob/grill/fridge (although might consider upgrading to a decent size fridge)

IF you're thinking of pop-top: Viking
Downstairs:
Leisuredrive bed is loverly
Leisuredrive cooker's nice and big
(that's enough Leisuredrive)
Westfalia sticker
Autohomes hightop (including underslung cupboards)
Autosleeper furniture
Propex
the rest is down to your taste really...........there's no such thing as 'the best' - else we'd all have one. Enjoy the confusion :ok

Oh yes, and a Viking buddy seat if you can get one :D

I found that a swivelling front passenger seat made a huge difference to the perceived space in the back - it effectively extends your living area by almost a metre. The drawback is that we still have not found a good way to house the portapotti, as a buddy seat would get in the way. If only they were an inch narrower, they would fit between the front seats.

We now have a baby through, so will have to consider how her bed fits with this. Am considering a parcel shelf bed, to avoid messing up the sitting area. I have bought an old fibreglass overhead cabinet which I am amateurishly recovering, but this might have to get sold on if we have a parcel shelf bed, otherwise the poor mite will not have any headroom.

On the bed front, we have a 3/4 bed to optimise cabinet space down the side, but the cupboard in the engine bay is shallower, meaning that the bed is wider there, where you need it (shoulders normally being wider than legs). This advantage is obviously lost if we have to switch ends for the baby bed.

Had exactly the same probs as you with the portaloo, very disappointed when I saw the space I thought it would fit......
Oh well.

What we HAVE got there is a second Desmo mount and I have recently made a low table out of ply and mouldings that fits in that space with room underneath for stuff too. Great when using the swivelled passenger seat, although I havent worked out yet how to fit a decent reading lamp up on the headlining.
Our rear cupboard is semi hanging, allowing shoulder room but also deep storage higher up. Th bit beyond shoulders, ie toward the van wall has a long narrow drawer in it accessed from the tailgate for tools and the high lift jack.
Guess you could fit an over camp bunk?
