Protecting my under-carriage ?

Ay up,
I'm stripping down all the front suspension, axles and steering gear to give them a overhaul, usual stuff - bearings, bushes & balls. I was hoping to get all the control arms, axles, etc sand blasted and powder coated, however, I reckon I'm better off saving my money for other areas (and there are plenty ! ).
So, I'm opting for the angle grinder with the twisted wire brush option & needle gun. However, rather than just giving them a traditional lick of hammerite has anyone got any top tips for using anything else that's a robust protective coating?

The factory just painted those bits with black paint. Why people powder coat them is beyond me. Who's gonna see em

powder coating is great untill it chips and then the problems begin. i`ve just blasted mine and given them 2 coats of hamerite i can touch up as needed when i get some chips or sctatches and every time i steam the underside i spray liberally with wd40 or similar.

Ok fellas, sounds like we're all singing from the same hymn book! Ye olde hammerite it is then!
