propex or van heaters - any advice?

Just joined the club and got my self a 2 lt 1981 air cooled t25 and love it. In fact going out in it this weekend which leads me to my question. Whilst I have been getting to know it I have found out that the heaters do not work. From the exhaust manifold I am missing everything until the 4 inch duct. Would it be better for me to fix this or go for a propex heater? Any advice or experience of similar would be really useful, thanks, tentops

Mine has no heat risers or control pods, it just has a metal flexi pipe coming off the heat exchangers and they come together and enter the front to rear pipe.

Its quite warm but i may got the propex route for heating when parked up anyway.

Mine has got everything there, flaps and all and yes it does get warm but only blows with engine speed. If you want heat when stationary you need an eber or propex especially if you plan winter camping. Unless you go everywhere that has hook up, then just use a fan heater but your still going to be cold when driving...

I've got a 2ltr Aircooled and all my ducting etc is in place but the heaters are still rubbish. Problem is the heat exchangers are on their way out and are getting really expensive to replace. So I bought an Eberspacher D1LC off ebay for £250 and now my van is always toasty warm whether driving or parked up overnight. Best money I've spent and about half the cost of replacing the heat exchangers alone.

I got some really good advice from folks on here. Read through my thread and it should answer most of your questions.

thanks for feed back. good idea using the flexy ducting from the heat exchanger looks like i will need something to get from 2" to 4" any ideas where i could get some. propex still looks tempting. Just been camping this weekend loved spending the first night in the van there was electric hookup so not so bad. but need to sort it out soon as the winter is coming!
