Windscreen Whiffers

Dear Dierdrie,

I have a problem with my windscreen washers - they stink! This problem isn't with our van but with our new beetle. The smell is like a cross between rotten eggy farts and cat wee  To resolve this we have tried emptying and refilling with fresh water and fluid but the smell returns everytime you spray!

Help!

Might be something unpleasant grown in the hose between the bottle and squirters? Try changing it.

Run a mild bleachy mix through to kill off any bacteria.

belach, 1% solution probably about 2 cap full, but as you pump it through jets, run a hose to dilute it so it doesn't eat your van as it runs off. also be very careful pouring into tank neat splashes etc. Tesco own brand value stuff is fine. Might want to dive around for a bit and over a few speed bumps to mix it up and give the inside of the tank a good clean.
