Can anyone give me an idea as to how good inverters are in a van, ie, how much liesure battery power used up using a small TV for instance.
What current does the inverter use, and can you recomend a particular one, at a resonable price. Do not want to spend a lot of money on an overated one, if I do not need it. It will be in the van all the time?

Our van lighting is six compact 230V flouresscent fittings with individual switching and running from an inverter. We normally only run one or two at a time. Some of my stuff needs mains chargeing so I have a socket for that. The 150 or 300 watt units from Maplins or fine and cheap and to be honest we find 12V lighting hopeless although good things are said about LED lighting. We have a red led and switch visible and accessible from the bed so we don't run the inverter when lights are not in use. We can also plug in some awning lights to the system. As we like touring and rarely stay stil more than a day or two at a time we have never suffered a flat liesure battery but whatever system you use you don't get nothing for nothing.
Cheers
