Hello,

I've decided i'd like to build a buddy seat behind my passenger seat. Storage in my van is already low and I really need somewhere to stash the loo etc while travelling. Therefore it needs to be large enough to fit an average size porta loo.

A while back I found plans online for the creation of a buddy seat but of course forgot to bookmark the page so does anyone have plans I could use? I'd like a lid that flips open for access to storage area, and possibly another platform with a leg that will flip up to the side of the main box to create a second seat (neither to be used in transit so seatbelts not an issue).

Also, I assume if no one will be sitting on the seat while travelling I dont have to worry about seatbelts and can just bolt it to the battery box behind? And, can some one advise on the best material to create the box from?

Sorry for the multitude of questions but any help or advice would be appreciated.

There's a plan for the "Devon box" which will suit your needs

I made one based on the Wiki version, but heavily adapted. Simple box made from 12mm ply butt-jointed and screwed together. Wide enough to accommodate the portaloo and a additional inner compartment separated with a ply slide-out sheet to store chemicals, cleaning bits and toilet rolls. See pic. Note the dropped front panel which lets you sit on it comfortably, the cabinet stay to keep the lid open and the hole in the front for the flush handle. Dead simple and works a treat. Haven't fixed it in place so it's easy to remove (and FWIW there is an adjacent seat belt, so we can now seat 6 on the road in theory).

I've downloaded the plans from wiki and using this and other suggested ideas I should be able to make up something to fit the bill.

I'm new on here and haven't even got a van yet, but I feel like I've spent a lifetime looking at all things T25 on the net. I saw something along the lines you're talking about made from something from Ikea. It was a wooden lattice -sided box (looked like a laundry box or similar) which needed minimal adaptation to fit a porta potti. It just happened to be exactly the right size. Being Ikea it was cheap. Goodness knows what the website I saw it on was though, sorry.
