We are off to France in two weeks and the site we are staying at requires a euro type hook up lead. I have made one out of a european computer lead (same connector) difference being the one I have made doesent have a 90 degree bend like normal. It's just a straight connection.
Anyone else done this or know If mine will work ok?

Do you mean you've used a standard 2 pin plug on a cable?
You do see a lot of 2 pin extension leads just plugged into the site boxes, but for the sake of less than a tenner is it worth it? At least with a proper conversion lead you have a good connection that fits the socket rather than just wedging in a 2 pin plug and it's going to be much more water resistant. I'd personally also get a polarity checker just to be extra sure what's going on. We did 6 months in France, Spain & Portugal and only came accross one site with reversed polarity, but at least we knew about it and could use the crossover lead to put it right.
Cheers
Andi
