As the autumn closes in my mind drifts off on a 'where next in the syncro' daydream.....

.... todays day dream found me following in someone else's foot steps through africa... no syncro's but good to follow just the same.

Jake and I often swap travel journals we stumble across. This one is a good one of your lazy and you can just click on the movies bit to watch it start to finish. Personally I always fancied going overland to Tibet and Nepal, but thats going to have to wait till I have some more money

I have had a dream of driving to Mongolia and back. Anyone interested?

Some day Andrew .. but I find I am drawn more toward Africa at the moment. The trouble is by the time it happens for me it will probably not be allowed in T3 Syncro because of emissions regulations, there will likely be a bloody bridge from Spain to Morocco and toll roads throughout Africa.

Even now the official figures for camper vans crossing to Morrocco is 45,000 per year; in our winter some of the campsites down the coast apparently resemble Newquay on a bank holiday weekend; but with a sea of motorhomes belonging to silverheaded europeans taking in the winter sun, and who could blame them; it costs a fraction of what it now costs in europe to stay warm.

There will always be wildernesses; your just going to have to travel further so maybe I will join you heading East !

Strangely I dont have that graw to head to Africa, beautiful and all it may be although nipping into Morocco and visiting the Sahara before it visits me could easily be on the cards.
I have a huge map of the world on my office wall and there is a marker pinned to Ulanbator with one day written on it.

Amen to that, i HAVE to go back there with my van, i reckon you could spend months and months having fun and discovering new places/things over there.

Its SO huge and there SO many offroad trails.......endless really

Some of those vehicles make a syncro look a little bit inadequate!

This is a mate of mines website. He drove the entire circumference of Africa, ran 5 marathons and climbed 5 of the highest mountains in Africa to raise money for charity.

Forget Nepal, but Tibet... as a daydream doodle I plotted a GoogleEarth course to Tibet, via Khazakstan, Mongolia, China (so called!) and round down into Tibet on the new road those horrible Chinese Imperialists have built, to Lhasa.

I'll see if I can find the GE overlays.. looked very challenging in places. As for permission to drive into Northern Tibet and down to Lhasa, slim chance?
