T3 Syncro coil overs in prototype stage.

As it says really.
Basically a T3 syncro damper, but with no spring seat.
threaded body.
Bottom adjuster, I've asked from damping rate to be set so that in the middle of the adjustment range, allowing the damper to be backed off for off road use and stiffened up for on road use.
Adjuster will be allen key type at the bottom of the damper, could be made top adjustable but increases the cost massivley.
I will then have to get the spring seat manufactured separatley.
Damper will be 30mm longer.
Will use standard bumpstop.
Will use standard springs, so you can keep your comfy ride, and keep costs down.
Damper body will be 2 1/4 so if you really wanted, you could make a top seat and use off the shelf 2 1/4 springs too.
Should be with me in about a month.
Then I need to dick about with them!

They won't go much lower than stock, but should go high enough.
Could probably use with 2WD -30mm springs if you wanted to go lower though, probably give 10-15mm drop from what they already are, plus a bit firmer.
Would also work with 2WD usual (blue) front springs to give a bit of lift, then firm up the dampers to stop them dive so much.
eee, the possibilities are endless...
Just hope they work.
Guide price - £325 plus VAT a pair, but you shouldn't need springs as well to get a lift.
Could put together as a kit with front coil overs, longer rear dampers and a set of 20mm shims for the rear.

What would the longer rear dampers be?

From the same company making the fronts? Or something totally different?

Great news!

I've been pondering which way to go for far too long. An adaptable setup would be the ideal.

Could I/would I need to/be able to use spring shims to up the ride height (already have the Syncro Services ones in waiting) and if not what are the possible lift gains?

Thanks for continuing to develop this stuff.

Dampers specced up and going through the factory in the next few days.
We've been making the spring seats too, in steel for the prototype, first one was cut today.

Anyone got any fancy springs that they havn't fitted yet?
We want to make sure that the internal diameter of aftermarket stuff like the Van cafe, Go Westy and Seikels will be compatable with the stock things.
From the array of springs we have here we managed to work out that they all have a internal diameter of 100mm, if thicker wire is used then then this increases the outside diameter and not the inside.

Also, if anyone could measure the wire diameter of any of the above springs that would be a great help.

Busschmiede front springs with a spring rate of 100 kg/cm (Manufactured by 'Spidan')

100mm Internal Diameter
18mm Wire Diameter

Spidan is a GKN company, didn't know they did syncro springs.
Wonder if they do rears?

Simon - FYI

They are 335mm in height and looks like 7 coils to me...

I found those springs to be too hard for a standard multivan. Busschmiede sold spacers for the rear end

Those springs are heavy duty 2WD ones as per the other thread!

I take it the ones you have in stock are from a different manufacturer then these however?

So have your manufacturer and Spidan been making reproductions of the original T3 spring types?

(remember there being green painted bits on my rear springs when i fitted them not so long ago, dos that mean they are likely to be the firmer type also?)
