One job always leads to another eh?

Right, so mad on gauges and think I found the pressure switch - is this it:? Pic 1.
When, to my horrow, I found water at the edges of the engine bay - and I mean a POOL of water! It is at the bottom of the air vent, so I guess water is pouring in there in heavy rain and pooling at the bottom... where is this water supposed to go? I can see the hole in the middle of the 'x' in the middle of the picture, but on any kind of sideways slope it won't go though there... are there supposed to be holes closer to the side of the van or is that it?
(that is pic 2!)

that's the high pressure sensor..
it takes a reading from the oil pump to the filter.
pretty useless for a gauge as it hardly changes in pressure.
best bet is the one under No 3 and 4 that gives the pressure to the tappet gallery.
this varies with engine speed and temp

oh just seen you have an air cooled.. so not sure if you have that

Yep, 2 litre Aircooled - which means, I think that that is the low pressure switch... is that correct?

far better to fit a cylinder head temp gauge on an Aircooled motor

Cylinder head temperature gauge? How does that fit on? I do want a temp gauge - but this was actually for an oil pressure gauge...
Any ideas on the water?

ah yes the dreaded water well thats a vw cockup not sufficient drainage and everyone gets water there.
best thing to do is dry it out and try to seal around the edges with tiger seal as this is where the rust begins that shows on the seam above the rear bumper end caps.
Its probably good practice to clean regularly as salt spray is bound to end up down there with the water = gauranteed corrosion taht and above the front bumper scuttle are the rust downfalls of our pride and joys

its an aircraft gauge but will show cylinder head tempretures (more usefull)
pm germman on here he has the links where to get em.
easy to fit too by all accounts. a thermo sensor goes by one of the plugs on each side
