I am looking into getting some rock sliders made up and wanted to know if anyone else is interested? They are going to be 60mm tube with fittings that go into the jacking points. The tube will have 1.5mm walls so not too heavy. That way the tube will bend before the mount breaks. They are sacrificial after all. Not sure of the price yet. Have left a set as templates with the blacksmith to give me a quote. I will supply them in bare steel, painted matt black or can get them powder coated if required.

The set I have as templates fit a standard 14" I am getting one set made shorter by about 10mm for my van as I have cut my arches. If anyone that wants a set needs the same you'll need to let me know.

I am interested, but with my new found welding talent I am going to have a crack at fabbing a pair myself.
Simple mild steel tubes with capped ends, was also thinking of mounting it to the cross members rather than the jacking point so I don't lose the use of them. Joint project perhaps?

Could be interested, been waiting over a year for a set from someone,(I said no rush !) and our Irish friend may also be interested.
For me ideally the would allow the highlift to access the jacking point or have holes in to allow the highlift adapter to fit rather than using the jack's foot on it's own. I'd want them black with no blingy bits.

Right. Looks like I may have to adjust the design to not use the jacking points. The design which uses the jacking point is coming in at £105 plus delivery (probably around a tenner). Will have to speak to the blacksmith about modifying them. How long is the highlift arm? Just thinking that with the rock sliders on, the arm will need to be about 60mm longer. Will this affect the operation of the jack?

They will make them up don't know how much they are but I don't think they are as cheap. Andy had a set on his and they are a lot fancier than the ones I am getting made up hence the increased price. They are very nice though.

The tube is cheap as chips, two pieces of smaller thicker wall tube to go into the jacking point, a circle of steel to cap the ends, spray them black.
Off to price it all up, but £115 is too rich for me, I shall definitely be making some here.

I'm interested, but it depends on the design.

I've seen the ones they sell on Germany for attachment through the jacking points.

They consist of 6 pieces of tube and a few bolts and captive nuts. Even with proper caps they should be cheap to make.

If we can integrate a highlift attachment all the better.

Personally I would like them black and simple.

I had hoped they would be cheaper but that is the price I was given. I may be able to get a boy down at the docks near me to knock them up cheaper. Will let you know.

Hi Jed - suggested that a while back but someone said they were galvanised, IIRC galv gives of carcinogenic fumes when you try to weld it. So I looked elsewhere. If you know of some that are mild steel then I would be interested but I guess the wall thickness would not have the inherent weakness to allow them to be sacrificial.

Cant you just grind of the galvanizing in the areas you want to wield?

Good idea - galv is only a coating so I guess so.
Will go ask a welder and report back.

I can get loads of this from scaffold we have on jobs. I did nick a couple of lengths but they are to valuable for changing rear wheel barings

These are simply for show and as useless as a chocolate teapot

How about these...... which I can make up for €65 and wont rely on rusty jacking points
