yes when i spoke he was bit p*ssed off with some people ringing up and not turning up so I think he'd be open to someone who was genuine .. he seemed a bit fed up with it all so i think he'd take a genuine offer ...has to be a good opportunity for someone !

well its definitely a Tri Star with all the basic fittings that came with one, someone has swapped the steering wheel for a golf one but that's about all
the mirrors are not TriStar ones just basic van ones, there's lots of surface rust and just a few minor holes that will need a spot of welding to do it properly. I didn't drive it or start the engine up, as soon as I got there I knew it was too much for me to take on and told him so... he was relieved as he had already decided he would like to keep it and overhaul it himself but was going to let me have it if I wanted it,,,,he's a really nice man
As you know I'm not an expert with mechanics so I don't know about the engine and the like but at 130 odd miles its bound to need something looking at, especially as its sat in the yard for 3 years. so a new engine, a full bare metal body respray, a new set of wheels and tyres and deep clean the whole interior, replace some perished rubber and you would have a very nice TriStar. not a minter but a very nice one and its on a G plate.
he said he would join the club and keep us updated,,,,lets hope so

most UK Tristars had standard mirrors, the electric ones were an option.
I saw this van five years ago when it was in wales, it was under shelter but the body was scabbier than mine was then, and had a head issue I believe and possible clutch/gearbox issue. Spoke to the then owner about fitting a genuine engine as I could get them at a good deal but never heard from the guy. I bought a ladder bar off it, which went then to Clive and is now a poly tunnel or somesuch thing on the allotment.

Just as an update I gave the guy in Essex (catching on yet) a buzz about his arborist Tristar. Yes Aidan it is the Welsh boyo`s one too. You will note that he said on the ad if you read it it smokes a bit or similar. Anyhow so far we know water merrily runs out of the engine on topping up and when asked a question about `will I get home in it` the answer, after much gabbling, was `I dont think so` to which I said `will it or wont it` and he said `you better trailer it`. Sounds like the issues are all still there so it aint worth the money is it!! Has anyone realised there`s a recession and your talking big bucks here to tart the old girl up and fix it or is it just me??

The guy that owns this has just asked me if the van could be a 16 with 14 wheels as the sticker on the door only gives the tyre pressure for 16 inch wheels...being a numnuts when it comes to teccy stuff can anyone answer this

Hello fello numnut, I used the info from Busman but I'm sure there are plenty of sources for this type of info

prettty sure they didn't make 16" tristars (meaning with longer trailing arms etc.), but 16" alloys were an option.

14 rims wont fit on to a 16 suspension.
Tri-stars were only 14's

16" Alloy wheels were an option on the Tristar. The Tristar flier from the time lists them. They are a pretty rare sight, but show up here and there, sometimes on Ebay. They are not like the typical Carat wheels, rather they have a convex face with radiating slots ending in holes. I believe there's a guy in London with a camper that has these mounted. They are listed as: "ATEWE Leichtmetallfelgen 7J x 16 mit Reifen 225/55 VR 16".
