Handbrake

:?:
greetings,
recently got my first vw, obviously a t25, very exciting... unfortunately there are several things wrong with it, one of which being the brakes, replaced nearly all of gubbins inside drums and rear h'brake cables, I really need to replace the rod/balance bar/thread/nut section too as it's been there for 25 years and seized solid (ie the nut), meaning I can't adjust the handbrake. I've spent several joyous hours spraying it with penetrating oil, attacking it with a wire brush and trying to loosen nut - it ain't happening.

Any ideas on where to get a new/replacement part, I live in Essex if thats any use .

many thanks from a newbie vw owner and appalling mechanic !!

Mark

If you adjust the rear brakes correctly you will most probably find that you don't need to touch the adjuster.

That's..........at the drums through the top holes (remove bungs) using a cranked flat screw driver (medium screw driver with a 30 degree bend approx 3 cm from the end.
