swivel seat base fitting

sorry if this has been covered before it fits in uselng 4 bolts how do you take the runners off as they are already on the swivel base do you drill them out or chisel them off or do you leave them on and drill through them to bolt the swivel on any help would be appreciated (think its a westfalia base) cheers :oops:

Are you saying its the bolt down type ? or the weld in type ?

if you have to.you need to drill them out.using a spot weld drill bit (plenty on ebay) or your local hardware place

then you need to take the seat off and then rotate it so you can get to the bolts
you can leave the seat on the base but easier to just take it off

Mine was held on with counter sunk allen key bolts and the nuts (6 of them) were welded to metal strips that fed into the vans seat runner

if you take the seat out you are left with the runners, i all ready have them on the swivel so do i remove the original or bolt over them :oops:

hi I'll try and post up some pictures tomorrow if i leave them in will the seat be to high :?: (my wife only has little legs :rofl )

the vag genuine bases are welded to the runners on the inner side of the top hat section.

there atre a few different types of after market ones , depending on the depth depens weather you want to remove the runners.

clean them off and you can see the dots where the welds are.

looking at the pictures I'd say it a mix of home brew and for something else based

I think you'd be looking at drilling the vans runners and then bolting the base though the runner and van or unwelding the runners and bolting though or weld it in
