New Tank... Waxoyl or Paint???

Will be fitting a new petrol tank soon, as mine has a small hole in the 'valley' which means it leaks when filled with more than 20 quid's worth. as well as other very rusty patches.
is it worth painting the new one before fitting, or would something like Waxoyl be a better idea to keep it rust free, longterm??
not worth bothering patching the old one or risking a 2nd hand one, really, for safety i reckon.

I used KBS Rustseal.

Better than waxoil or hammerite for paint once and forget.

Ideally an underbody anti chip treatment spray (rubberized coating) like Shultz or similar product, as used under wheel arches etc

so to clarify

yes paint it as man times as you can and anything else you can do to it.

also worth mentioning from factory tanks had some pads stuck to them where the pipes and cables under your van rub them.

new tanks dont come with them . i have seen many tanks that are solid but have had a hole worn it them ,almost always these are replacement tanks , and it take less than 2 years!
so something else to add!

think it means protection, or something similar in german, as in shutz staffell (the SS) but gets commonly mistaken as schultz, as in private schultz, 80's series starring michael elphick, who was very good in withnail and i, as jake the poacher with eels in his trousers, getting waay off the point now!
