Ok, I know the answer is propex or eber but I REALLY can't afford one, in fact my budget is under £50. Going to Oktoberfest where there is hook up, and want to get something I can plug in. Not knowing about electrickery I don't know if there is a maximum KW thingy I can have on hook up. Also is there a minimum in terms of actually being any use. There are a few in argos that are around the 2-2.5 kw and are dead cheap, is this too low?
Sorry for complete numptyness but I need to heat the van before bed or the kids are going to freeze!

check with the campsite, but I think you can draw upto 7 amps.

To convert watts into amps you divide the wattage by the volts. A 1.5 k watt heater will be 1500 divided by 240 equals amps. I don't have a calculator but that will equate to around 6amps.

So any thing below 1.5 kilowatts should fine.

1.5kw should be ample for heating such a small space. For safety with the kids I'd plump for one of those oil filled radiators rather than anything with glowing bars. We had one of these in our bedroom with no central heating a few years back and it was toasty warm even in the coldest months.

I've got a proteam quartz halogen 400/800w thingy given by a friend which I'm planning to use on hook up, it's a camping one so assume it'll work.

mind you, i don't even know if my EHU works yet LOL!

will see how this winter goes and perhaps add an oil filled rad on the "I want" list for next year.

DeLonghi are good little heaters plus it's got a room thermostat so it will cut out when the room gets to the right temp then back in if it coold down. Better than having something constatntly cranking out heat all night or you'll all be as dry as Ghandi's flipflop in the morning.

No kids. Know several others using similar ones as they are small they take up little space and are easy to store.

Local cheapy shop BM Bargains have a little gas heater for £10.00 and 4 cylinders for £5.00 similar to the sun gas one tat I use and paid £45.00 3 years ago.

I use 2.2Kw fan heater with a digital display that allows you to select power output levels, has buit in temp display, thermostat, programme timer, etc. It's really tiny, almost silent operating, easy to stow away and takes up very little floor space, it cost just £18-00 ..........

Yeah we have something similar. Great little heaters if you don't mind the whirring all night.

No good for inside the van overnight due to a strong possibility of death!

Brilliant for sitting around in the awning to take the chill off though.

I have one of those gas ones already for awning but can't use at mo cos 5 year old would burn himself, he can't help himself,moth to a flame!
Lloyd that looks great, does it give off much heat?

The one Lloyd has referenced is similar to mine and will keep you very warm, only need to use it on the 1Kw setting in the Autumn and you will find that the fan helps to distribute the heat all around the van.
