Hi

Where is the best place I can get some Thermo mats now that the dark cold nights are creeping up on us (do the mats actually make a difference??)

Yeah they work a treat in our van. A good tip we learned is to wipe each sucker with a wet wipe before attaching it to the window, then push them on and move the suckers a little from side to side and then push them firmly against the window.

Make them yourself, its a whole lot cheaper than buying them. Then use the money for something else lol

Or/
Buy them , it's a whole lot quicker than making them and use the time for something more interesting!

Or, just spit on them like I do

Mine are great, not sure they especially keep the van cooler but I do think they keep it warmer at night etc. Also, much much much darker which is very important when you have a littlie who thinks it's time to get up when it's light outside!

Put up a wanted ad, I got mine from another 80-90 member very reasonably.

Doh! Didn't think about placing an ad in the wanted section. Went straight to the JK website and bashed the credit card. At least I've got them for this weekend when we go to the New Forest.

Can anyone recommend a decent spot down there near Brockenhurst? Some one suggested Sandy Balls. I thought that they were pulling my chain until I googled it!
It's £30 nicker a night though. Not sure I want my balls that sandy

pmsl yeah Sandy Balls, certain broke my balls when I looked at staying there 2 weeks ago.

I stayed at Hollands wood a couple of weeks ago, fantastic site loads of room etc

You must have plenty of spit hehe

you can buy the fabric backed, quilted, bonded spaceblanket stuff by length and then just cut it to the right shape if you like, a lot cheaper than buying them pre-made, and not too much work. The person who told me about this had a mobile home with blinds so they didn't use suckers, they just propped the mats up between the blind and the window. If you have curtains you'll need to use suckers, you can probably buy them online somewhere!

BUT - whatever you do, don't do what I did - which is think you're clever by buying the basic space blanket material (ie. the single sheet, non-quilted stuff) and folding it then gaffer taping it to make it 4-ply then gaffer taping that to the top of the windows, then trying to roll it up with "pooh" of air trapped inside. Even once I'd made holes to let the air out, and stuck on velcro dots to hold it all in place, when its in its basic form, its the most noisy rustly nasty stuff and woke the baby up every morning, when I tried to roll it up... but you live and learn I guess. And it did work actually, kept the inside of the van totally cool, even when it was 35 deg outside, and inside the crappy old fridge it was still sub zero!!! Kept it warm at night too.

Sounds a nightmare and as the most useless DIY man on this planet I'm glad I opted for the JK option so can avoid trapped poohs of air

made my own -bought a roll of radiator reflecter from wicks diy -bit like bubble wrap but white one side silver foil the other. cut to shape and velcro corners both sides have the white side facing out to reflect heat in if cold and opposite way round if hot -the roll cost £12 -more beer money !!!
