Ok. I rang a local garage today about these nuts and they said to bring the van down and they would crank them off for me, Great i thought so i jumped in the van and headed a mile or so to the garage, Half way there the van dies, thinking i'm out of fuel i walk 3 miles to the garage, stopping off to pick up a fuel can on the way. Finally i get back to the van, and add new fuel, She still wont start, after about n hour or so of fraffing about in the engine bay i finally decide to do the decent thing and call the AA, They arrive after about an hour and half and get to work. To make a VERY LONG story short it turns out my fuel pump is knackered, "hows your luck" i hear you ask! "not good i reply" i wont be buying any lottery tickets this week lets put it that way.
So to summerise, i had the good idea to change my brakes and all assosiated items, Cost = Many£££££, got down to do the job and realised i hadn't got the right socket and breaker, again, Cost = not as many £££££, Break down on way to garage to get nuts released, New fuel pump, Cost = God only knows!!!!, Took 2 days off work to do this job and i'm pleased to inform you all i have managed to do SOD ALL!!!!! If anyone can assist me in with a solution to this problem (assuming you have all stopped laughing at this point) i would be very grateful!!
I'm not sure if this should be in the Technical thread or not but as i couldn't find a thread headed "no man can be that unlucky" i put it here!

On the plus side, the very nice man from the AA did manage to loosen the hub nuts so at least i can get to work on the van now it back home! :D
Cheers.

Rick.

I have this job to look forward to, done 500 miles over the past 5 days and checked my oil level half way through trip and it had gone up a fair bit and dipstick smelt like petrol. Ah well another job for the list...

Most VW parts retailers don't have fuel pumps for the 2.0l CU air-cooled engine. VW Heritage are normally the only place you might get one.

Thanks for the heads up guys, it would seem though that is the least of my problems right now! all my brake line connectors are siezed or the nuts are rounded of, What a mare this job is turning into! :(
