As it's you they are after and not the van then Jungle Formula spray on for you, and a midge helmet, and long sleeves and trousers.
Not tried the Avon Skin so Soft but many others swear by that too. Endorsed by the forestry commission I believe. Try also taking antihistamine tablets, as the little buggers are dissuaded by 'em somehow.
You're not talking about the scottish midge though are you ? For those you need a small thermonuclear device

We used the avon skin so soft when we were in france and it was really good.
As far as keeping them out of the camper we got a mozzy net that fits across the sliding door opening. Couldnt do without it

Drink a bottle of pernod, worked for me years ago. Kept them away & if you do get bit you don't care anyway.

In Scotland a few months ago. Avon skin so soft worked for me. Wife got bit to hell! Got infected too! There is something about being on certain kinds of medication which can attract midges but I can't remember the details
Not much use this is it?

Didn't know there were different ones. I leave the cosmetics etc buying to my wife. (Except nail varnish... I know what I like)
