Are the late sliding doors any different to the early ones? (1982) Thinking buying one i have found. Will it fit and is £180 a good price? (It is rust free!) Cant seem to find many for sale at the moment.

early/late, are NOT interchangable without major mods....

Early and late are different, without bodging the rear pillar mounting they aren't interchangable. Do you need early or late? £180 seems a lot of money if it's a late one knock a 1 off the front and you are about there. Probably about on the money if it's a very straight early one from a caravelle with factory window, I saw a couple of good early ones go for close to £300 during silly season on ebay last year.

Try posting a wanted add here and on the brickyard, if you can wait a month ( or at least until after vanfest) prices normally drop a bit.

yeah the early ones are hard to come by when they do come up thay arnt cheap

Yup as everyone says later doors will not fit easily.
I tried to find one for my van at reasonable cost but could not.I ended up repairing mine.
Cost about £150 after painting.
I can`t remenber what model year they changed might have been 85 onwards?
I am sure someone will know!

Aparrently you can get brand new doors still through VW but they do cost a bit just waiting to findout how much though Does anyone like A h Schofields sell them??

The early late change is July '86 (although I'm sure I'll be corrected!).

Alan Schofields do skins to repair doors, but not whole sliders (but may be worth giving them a call!)

Try and PM 'spannerboy' (aka Simon) on here as he has parts.

I could repair it i suppose was worried about warping the panel etc. it not in too bad a knick was gonna get nice new door then repair old door and offer it up on here like with my other doors i will get the repair panels and make the doors rust free then put them on here. apart from tailgate as havn't got time to do that one.
