Intermitant stalling when Hot!

I have a 1990 1.9L DG petrol engine T25 with an intermitent fault. I cover about 2000 miles a year and it has occurred 3 times this year so far. The engine will start and run ok but then sometime after about 5 mins when it is just warming up it will start to mis-fire, lack power and stall if I dip the clutch to stop at a junction for example. The most recent time I pulled in and called the AA, they took an hour to come out but when they arrive the van started and ran ok but then did start to do the same stalling again when it started to warm up. My local garage picked the van up to investigate the problem it ran fine, the only thing they could find is some dirt in the carb, and this has been the case on the 2 previous occasions this year, previously last year they did replace the Ignition coil and ignition control unit. Any advise to the cause of this problem would be grattefully recieved

Miss firing and then stalling for no good reason may be early signs of water entering your fuel system, if it is here are just a few more things to check and eliminate.
Changing the 'in line fuel filter' (found at the side of the fuel tank on the O/S ) is always a good start and will show any evidence of water getting into the tank....if there is water in the system, check the following....
Do this your self or find someone who knows what they are looking for,,,,,check all the breather connections on fuel breather tank under each wheel arch (they tend to perrish with age and will allow water and other bits of crap to get into the fuel tank).
Another is check the fuel filler neck rubber gromet as this also tends to perrish and will do the same as the above if left un noticed...
Don't forget to then drain your fuel tank to get the remaining droplets of water out, and then Bob's your uncle.

As Mr F says... Most likely....
Dirt in the carb blocking the idle jets (or water ingress)... this is prob as said from one of the several rubber components on the filler/tank..
Check and change the fuel filter.. inspect the filler and breather tank connections..
Your tilte say wehn hot, but your description says when warming up.... I presume it does it all the time when its up to temp? which would indicate water/dirt in the idle jets
Also, please fill out a location in your profile so we kone where in the world you might be as there may be a member locally that can help out..

If you have the original old plastic fuel line, the inside can perish slightly and this ends up inside your carb and makes you think 'Where the flippin 'eck did that lot come from??!!!'.
When I had this I replaced the whole fuel line from tank to carbs and not had a problem since doing it.
