Got Elvis back from his mot today with only 9 failures   . 7 are niff naff which I know I can do myself, But the other two I am not certain on, o/s and n/s steering locking device missing can anyone please shed some light on what this is and where I can find it (photos would be brilliant).
Thanks in advance Richie

this is a pure guess but from the terminology i'd say they mean the nuts on the track rod ends. they should be either a locking nut (nylock) or a castle nut with a splitpin to prevent them coming loose. perhaps yours have ordinary nuts on?

Ring up and ask the MOT tester what he means.....as a former MOT tester myself I can't say I understand what he is getting at!

Thanks for the replies people. Have just been out to look at the van and the steering rack track end joints do have cassellated nuts minus the split pins would this constitute a failure? And if so will changing them to nylocs suffice as I have to do the steering gaiters anyway. Thanks for the advice martin will phone the garage tomorrow and ask him (why didnt I think of that  )

if they have castle nuts without the split-pins that the failure either side
you dont have to fit nylocks,, just put split-pins in, or thick steel wire or something :ok
