You get the parts you order
Depends on who you chose as a kit supplier
Browse RJES website, Smallcar website, Kennedy Engineering

The adapter plate (Kennedy, Small Car) uses a made-up flywheel and VW clutch and starter
The bellhousings use a Subaru flywheel, Subaru clutch pressure plate and VW centre-plate and Subaru starter
There are at least two solutions for engine mountings, RJES and Smallcar, clearance, exh pipes etc differ
Syncro/non-syncro can affect options

Yes, you don't need to have Phd in electronics, it can be done, best to follow someone else's plans or directions though

Theres a few members on here who have done one or more conversions with one or more types of Subaru engines

What Clive said. /\ /\

Will add: be careful about mixing parts from different suppliers. Many are not interchangable... engine mounts & exhaust mixing sometimes doesn't work, bell housing vs. adapter plate make engine placement different, etc.

Here's a forum dedicated to subaru - van conversions:

I did all the electrics on mine from a kep wiring diagram, plus made all my own exhaust, engine mounts, throtle linkage, coolant system, air intake etc you dont need to pay for all the expensive bits!!

The above are all correct. If you are planning to use off the shelf instructions for doing your harness yourself, be aware that as far as I know they are onle available for 1990 - 1994 engines, which are the same for all markets. 1995 onwards they change every five minutes, and US models are all different to European. Mail me with the details of what spec conversion you are thinking of doing if you want a list of all the suitable parts I do. There is no such thing as an off the shelf kit, as many of the parts needed depend on what model and year your Subaru donor and VW recipient are.
