High revs alternator light - 1.9 petrol

Hi,

Got a bit of an alternatorlight issue that I'd welcome input on (and this time it doesn't seem to be related to the dreaded multi-plug on the back of the dash).

When I rev the engine towards its upper limits, the alterantor light starts to flicker - the higher the revs, the more constant it becomes.

Everything seems to be rotating fine, and as far as I can tell the belt isn't slipping (it's all correctky tensioned).

Is this a knackered alteranor, or could it just be the brushes? I could just rev it less, but this doesn't seem to be the long term answer!!

Cheers,

Alex

Brushes, worn slip ring (or possibly dodgy connection that is affected by vibration) comes to mind. I would visually check all the connections, the alternator output, then brushes and try a replacement brushpack/regulator first. See what others say...........
