Better engine choice

Is there a huge difference between the 1950cc water-cooled and air-cooled engines. I have read the "buyers guide" which explains the main faults etc but I have been advised to keep away from the air-cooled version. I am looking at 2 vans in similar condition but with about a grand price difference (air-cooled cheaper) ...
Thanks for any advice

Air cooled fine (my first love). The drawback with an Aircooled one is the lack of rad and pipes etc, making it a bigger job to fit any other type of engine in there.
Not worth getting into an old debate on merits and drawbacks of each but the one I've underlined sits at the top of the list I'd say.

There ar elots of similar posts on here, please have a read through and do a search or 3, this has been covered and covered and covered...
Bare in mind what you are looking at is prob at least 20 years old and could be approaching 30.... and the vast majority have not really been "looked after" to the degree they ought to have..
Age and wear will have taken its toll and you WILL have to pour some money into it.. unless you are buying something that has had shed loads spent on it (I guess not if there is only £1k prioce difference)
As ever.. the overall condition is the important bit.. rust is a pain and costly to repair properly.. engines, gearboxes and any other part that "bolts on" is easyier to fix (yes can be costly too)
There isnt a 1950cc wbx, its 1915cc (1.9) or 2109cc (2.1)
