Just looking at fitting a front spoiler, what size rivnut insert do I need and is there an alternative method of fixing

Drill and rivet it on.

There's always double sided sticky tape.....but not particularly good!


My front spoiler was fitted with a screw head bolt and washer....and it needed to come off to get the rad out when it leaked, as we couldn't get the van up high enough to give a big enough gap with the spoiler on.

Here's what I did

The front chassis crossmember has holes in the right places for M6 rivnuts, the holes being around 10mm diameter. There are no pre-drilled holes for the side parts which will need to be drilled and either riveted, screwed or (my preference) bolted in place with M6 stainless nuts and bolts.

As SteveB says, drill new holes and either self tap or rivet em on! Done all 3 ways incl rivnut and rivets easiest!

Have tried rivnuts useless crocks of sh**e maybe because I haven't got the tool, Or maybe the midgies biting didn't help!
making do with the improvised tool the nuts don't seem to want to grip to allow the things to tighten up in the hole.
Have got some rivnuts in and have thought that the problem is the same as a cavity wall fixings, have some of the metal expanding ones so will try them on the intermediate holes.

used the improvised tool with no problems. just tighten up until you can feel it bottom at the rear
