Noise when driving in gear

Hi,
Can anyone help?

No problems until today. When reving in neautal, no probelms, engine sounds A+ as always
However as soon as I put it into gear (no noise when putting into gear) and then pull away, loud noise appears at the rear of the vehicle and seems to be some loss in performance. When rolling down hill in neutal or cluth down, again , no problems. Only noise when in gear...

Also same in reverse
The gear box occasionally slips out of first, but otherwise this is a major problem I would like to get sorted.

Any ideas

Many thks

Chris

Hi, not sure, sounds like it missfires. Are able to drive it still, just chuggers along, fine in neautral...
Only happens when i put a load on the engine, ie , releasing clutch once in gear.

Could it be HT leads, they looked a bit worn on the rubber.

Are carbon leads known to short/track?

Ok I've been and had a look and a listen , and its flattappetatitus ,cause fiveweekoldyoungunstoopingchrisdrivingatitus
basically a tappet has leaked down on one cylinder causing it to pop , Chris is going to do an oil change (he's had it 9 months and hasnt done one dirty dog  ) and try running it for a while , hopefully the DEATHSTAR (as was) will roam the galaxy once more

get him to oil change the box too, coming out of first could be very worn pinion bearing, will show up on drain plug.

Hey there,

Problem solved thanks to MarK.

Cheers, after an oil change and spark plugs, the Death Star as was is running again.

Currently doing some more work on it now that I've got my confidence back getting stuck in.

I'll make sure I run it more often and change the oil more frequently

Thanks
ChrisG
