uh oh,
need a little help on finding a stop over site tomorrow night in the Stone Henge area, or thereabouts.
Tried the Stone Henge Touring Park and they're full.
Not afraid to travel a bit,( prefer slightly North if anywhere as heading to Sheffield the following day) but really would like to find a clean quiet little site with good basic facilities.
Thanks in advance

The pub in Avebury used to let you park up in their car park; I'm going back about 20 years so it may have changed, but worth an ask
Lovely pub (or was) & fascinating village if you like that sort of thing

Just turn up and camp in the middle of the ring. No problem.
Seriously, there is not a lot going on on Salisbury Plain itself. About the nearest site is Tilshead, 01980 620402 but there is bugger all to do there as the population is about 500 and all they have is a pub and a bus stop. You are much better camping near one of the surrounding towns and visiting Stonehenge for an hour or so, which is all it is going to take you. Personally, I find Avebury far more intersting.
You can find details of sites in the area from

Hi
Have you ever used this site?
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's pretty easy to use and I have used loads of site from it, but not around Stonehenge area so I can't recommend anything particular. Sorry
Happy searching!
Dan

Theres over 200 square miles of nothing in the middle of the plain. I spent my (mispent) youth learning to off road in there. I'd take my wagon and find a nice hill and enjoy having no-one for miles in any direction! Not strictly allowed, but no-ones going to know you're there

Its the best playground in england bar none - just don't touch the shiny bomb looking objects stickign out the ground!
