I rapleced the two under the van with
new ones from just campers. Now they are starting to fail after just two weeks! Could i have messed up and installed these wrong, or are they that bad?

The postman delivered my new steering disks from Brickwerks this morning.
The quality appears to be excellent.

The ones from JK look like they are from a camping shop, picked from between the tent pegs and the re-proofer.
My question is........
How do you remove and replace the discs? One pair is easy as it has a nut on the end however the other pair are a stud arrangement. Surely not a job for a 4" grinder.
Any clues?

I've just done this job. Relaced all 3 couplings with genuine VW and also the 2 little bushes that are further up the column.
Basically - you have also got to unbolt the splined collars (where the word bolt it in your above picture!!!)that clamp onto the connecting rods, then you can remove everything, get it onto the bench and then you can easily drill those studs out. When you do this - try and mark where everything lines up - so that you can get your steering wheel straight and not at some cocked angle!
Then when putting it all back together it's simply a case of lining your marking up and using some well secured M8 nuts and bolts
