Did VW ever make an Aircooled syncro - I know they made a proof of concept baywindow 4wd but did they ever do a 4wd T25?
Just wondering is all!.....

not to my knowledge
The Syncro was launched in 85 and by then the Aircooled engines where long gone. There may have been a very early prototype or mule on an aircold basis, but I doubt it

First prototypes were t2 so probably Aircooled... but never in production

yea.. I had already read that one which is where I had seen the 4wd bay window - the only titilating thig thats mentioned is:-
At least one air-cooled T25 vehicle was produced in 1982 as a prototype expedition backup vehicle.
doesnt state if it were 4wd or not
I would love to track down an A/C 4wd t25 as it would be not only soooo unusual it would also be worth a bomb

I would reckon that the titillating mention of "at least one air-cooled T25 vehicle" would, if you read it in context, suggest that there was, indeed, an air cooled T25 Syncro produced as a prototype in 1982. Why else would VW produce an air cooled prototype in 1982 as the 2wd T25 was already in production !!!! My guess is that IF there was an air-cooled T25 vehicle, then it is a/ dead b/VW have it c/its in the hands of a German collector.
There is a chap called Boltz that posts here occasionally who seems to be quite a Syncro authority (along with all things T25) and I'd say that there would be a good place to start your search.
When you find it, check under the back seat cuz you might just find the holy grail there.
