if a ldv 1.9 desial would go into my t25 1.9 watercooled petrol ?

With the right adapter plate ..yes...but why would you want to,when a 1.9 vw diesel would be less hassle and no adapter plate needed. It would cost less with an Vw AAZ diesel. Mark

if its the peugeot diesel then it is possible , but use one from a peugeot/citreon car as they are better angled plus the ldv van never used the turbo version!

i currently run peugeot diesels in both my vans along with three other people i have fitted them for.

as long as you fit it correctly then they are much better in my opinion than a vw diesel.someone will be along to argue i bet.....

have you got any pictures of the engine so i no what i am looking for ? also what are they like do they have plenty of power ?

http://www.vwkd.co.uk/bb/viewtopic.php?t=393" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This may give you some idea of the conversion.The weakness is a badly made adapter plate rushed or low quality fitting skills .The link i provided will show a few pointers to phil who used to supplied kits with an adapter plate made by a engineering company.I no there are strong arguments against using Pug engines where as you can fit VW td/tdi to a T25 diesel bell housing.But i carnt see it a problem provided quality parts and fitting skills are used .Having driven 1.9 2.1 pugs there nice strong engines easily available and cheap.I tried to make contact to obtain an adapter plate from Phil but no response reason why i asked billy739 .

phil is about , but been doing other projects.

phil was getting kits made by a local engineering company who was making kits 'between jobs' this kept the cost down , from memory just below the £250 mark deliverd which when you add the £100 cost of the donor car was still a good price.

he is always wasiting on a batch as he sells his supply as soon as they arrive and dosent really have a set date for the next batch!

i have managed to copy one of his kits , unfortunatly it didnt work out cheaper , in fact another £100 dearer, but i have taken my van to europe twice and covered around 15000 miles so far on the install without a problem so it was well worth it.

trying to find a good vw diesel seems to be the problem my local scrappy seems to have a regular supply of aaz to tdi versions but i know i can take out a pug motor and it will still have plenty of miles left but i am a bit wery of a vw motor with 150000 miles on it.(my opinion)

all down to personal preference and experience and of course your capabilities.

the engine lid of a peugeot engined van needs lifting between 1-3 inches depending on engine , i have got this down to moding the engine lid itself so no mods to the van except about 8 holes drilled.

if your van is a turbo diesel already converting to an aaz or similar is easiest , but if its a non turbo or a petrol then sourcing parts could be eaqually as expensive getting harder to do as things like hoses are getting hard to find, do a search on ebay or put an add in the wanted section , see what i mean.

power wise , personally i think the 1.9td pug engine drives somewhere between the 1.9 dg and 2.1 dg petrol engines. the 2.1td peugeot needs some resepct when driving , bordering on possibly too much if you hammer it , i have driven it probably a total of 60000 miles(i have 2 vans) and had no problems and towing lots too. cooling dosent seem a problem either.
check the vwkd site and look for 'complete conversions' mine is the white T25 with the 2.1 pug engine

So would one of you guys be able to fit the engine including the adaptor plate and how much would it cost ?

rattybird, I have a 406pug turbo d in my velle, it's intercooled but the pipework was meaning lifting the decklid more than I was happy with so at th mo it's not cooled, but I love the power and rev range(less critical gearing than the vw diesels), Its definately faster than my old 2.4t4 bus was and mpg is between 33-37mpg
