Fitting difflocks to a non diff lock van.

Sooo i have been looking for a while now for a new syncro for a base to move all the camper bits over to from my 2wd van. loads of the vans that seem to come up have no sodding diff locks and i would want a rear one at least. My question is what exactly would you need and how much am i looking at for the stuff to fit a rear locker? It would just increase my options of buying one at a sensible price if i knew what i needed.

Aidan will fit a diff lock to a non diff lock box and can fit diff locks to 2wd boxes as well. No doubt he will be along soon

fair amount of stuff because you've got all your air lines, accumulator tank, switch, switch panel, accuator, pin and carrier etc....and some of these bits are getting thin on the ground.
We've got the parts but they are not the cheapest.....you may be best to stick out for your diff lock equipped base van. :ok

my van was difflockless when I bought it, but I had the necessary on the shelf from a previously broken van.
I still have some spare used vac parts. And I have the vac pipe new in choice of colours and rubber connectors new in stock for repairs and upgrades. Switches etc. can be obtained new from Germany but not cheap, but some bits of plastic are nla. The basic wiring is there in every syncro.
you either want a pair of locking boxes (buy a cheap van and break it ?) and all the stuff to swap or have the non locker boxes rebuilt and at the same time upgrade them to difflock, figure on £600 to upgrade them, plus all the vac fittings likely to be another £200 minimum plus some work it's a grand minimum really I guess plus the cost of rebuild, but at least you then start with rebuilt trannie
or pay the extra for difflock equipped vehicle and oil change the boxes

I'd go for a late van with a good body and signs of maintenance and allow for possibly upgrading in the maths, I guess that's where you came in

Good thing about dropping all the transmission is great access for brake lines and underbody bits and bobs and underbody corrosion which can be sorted while other work being done

jed unless you really want to change from the 2wd camper you have i`d seriously think about converting the 2wd to syncro. i did it the other way around with my blue 16" and in hind sight i think, doing it the other way is less hassle.
