engine wont idle after revs applied

Hi there, i have a vw t25 2ltr Aircooled which has just had an engine change, the new engine is running ok, it starts and idles on turning the key however as soon as you apply any revs the engine then doesnt idle...the mechanic is a bit stumped he has adjusted the idle screw on the carb and the igniton timing but to no avail. we are thinking it may be the electronic ilde stablizing unit, we have two one from the old engine but the same happends with both. anybody know what it could be and where i might be able to get hold of a replacement idle stablizing unit. thanks

Bypass the idle stablizing unit. It can either be temporary to check it or permanent. To bypass, simply join the two connectors going into the unit together.

Hi
thanks for yoour quick response mark.. I have tried by passing the control unit but it makes no difference, im a bit stumped Its looking like a carb issue now. One of the choke flaps has a hole in it do you think that would have an effect.

When you say it doesn't idle, do you mean it cuts out or the revs stay too high and wont drop back down properly?
Ps. the hole is usually meant to be there!
