First run!! ...and nearly no problems.

Well after a months of tinkering and eventually a new gearbox (thanks Aidan) she sailed through her MOT last week and was ready for the road.

Drove her out to visit the girlfriends family and she went like a wee dream. 160 odd miles round trip.

And she got all the way back to Glasgow the next day... ... I say Glasgow and not home cos she threw a strope about 5 min from the house. Seems the fuel tank might have had a pile of crud in it and her first full tank and first proper run in god knows how long loosened a lot of it off.

A wee flush of the filter and a tinker about and we were back on the road.

Need to get that tank flushed. Anyone tell me if there is a "best way" of doing this?

Also when I replaced the filter a while back the one that came out was a decent size. The one UniPart gave me for the bus seemed a bit small. The filter on the 2stroke lawnmower is bigger. Does this sound right or can someone point me in the direction of the correct one?

No, it's not right, and probably one reason for your troubles..
VW commercial should be able to supply the correct filter
