Aux battery charging; think I've fixed it

Came back from hols and aux battery was not charging. Not got a schematic but traced wiring from alternator to relay to aux battery. Wiring was chafing on bodywork (so earthing?). Re insulated it and now aux battery is showing charging.
Lesson for today is check routes of wiring.
