Hi all some advice needed please, I'm only a girly and don't do engines!!
Turn the key to start van, lights on dash come on as normal, but then nothing...no sound not a sausage, does anyone have any idea what it may be??
By the way I have checked battery connection, and looked to check nothing is loose in the engine.

Flat battery or starter motor...Do all the lights work? If so could well be starter motor.

if it just clicks it could be your starter motor

thanks for your help guys. My son has tested battery, which is fine and also the lights work fine, looks like it could be the starter motor then?

Ya sounds like it, get somebody to give the starter motor a tap with a hammer and try it then. Solenoid could well be sticking...

If your not getting any clicking from the starter, may just be the small wire to the solenoid that has come off the starter, if not tap the starter to help jump start, or it will be starter replacement.

If your on a slope you could try a jump start or if you feel confident and can recognise the starter motor check the wire that goes to it... nut should be tight. If feeling strong (with some help!) try rocking van in high gear with ignition off as this may free the starter motor as well as the shock of hitting it with something heavy.
